articles pertaining to the struggle for governmental reform in Minnesota
Chippewa Country.

Sentencing for "Finngate" defendents has been set for September 5.

Leech Lake Local Indian Councils issue statement concerning sentencing of
Brown, Finn and Pemberton:

We, the duly elected officers and representatives of the Leech lake
Reservation Local Indian Councils, demand, as victims of the crimes
perpetrated by Daniel Brown, Secretary/Treasurer; Alfred "Tig" Pemberton,
former chairman; Harold "Skip" Finn, former tribal counsel; that the
maximum sentence be inposed upon them and further that they re required to
make full restitution to the Leech Lake Reservation people.
This action taken at a full meeting held at Squaw Lake, Minn.
August 21, 1996 with all local council represented.
