PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE

The only known celebration of the State's newest and oldest recognized people
will be held at the Ozone-Howard Sports Complex, Ozone Park, NY on Saturday
Sept. 28 and Sunday Sept. 29.

A bill signed into law by Governor George Pataki on August 8th established
Native American Day, which will be observed on the 4th Saturday of September,
starting this year. Native Americans are the original inhabitants of the
lands that now constitute New York State, and all New Yorkers are benefitted
by the rich cultural heritage of the Indian peoples who continue to live in
this great state.

With the help of Councilman Alfonse Stabile of Queens, Grand Master Peter
Ticali of Martial LIFE Arts Assoc. has organized a two-day celebration of
America's First Nation, at the spacious grounds of the Ozone-Howard Sports
complex at Centerville Road and 135th Ave. on the Ozone Park/Howard Beach
borderline. The festivities will center around a traditional Indian Pow Wow,
hosted by Chief BlackHawk San Carlos and the Native American Warrior Society.
Featured on the weekend will be: Native Drums, Singers and Dancers.
Traditional Indian Dance Contest, Indian Arts and Crafts, Native Jewelry,
Books, Tapes and Artifacts. Participants will experience all of the above,
as well as having the opportunity to participate in Indian Storytelling,
Archery and Pony rides. Traditional Native Foods as well as today's
favorites will be available to round out a great day of historical culture
and fun.

Grand Master Ticali, Chief San Carlos and Councilman Stabile are determined
that this educational experience be made available for as many of our youth
and their families as possible. Any school, youth group, or civic
association who wishes to bring a group of youth will be given half-price
entry for children (10 or more) that are accompanied with a sufficient number
of adults to supervise them. As an added attraction for children and adults
alike, Grand Master Ticali is arranging for a number of the top Martial Arts
Grand Masters in the northeast to demonstrate their various styles of Martial
Arts throughout the weekend. Ticali says, "Many people do not realize that
warriors have much in common. The perception that all warriors are limited
to fighting is created by movies and magazines. In real list, warriors
detest violence. They're just not intimidated by it."

In addition, we are working out some final details to bring a cowboy show as
well. This will turn out to be the finest Indian Event held in recent years,
and it's only the first annual of many to come. Admission to the event will
be $6/adult and $4/child over 5 years old. The grounds will be open for
admission from 11am - 7pm and closing time will be at 8pm prompt. For
further information, contact Grand Master Peter Ticali at 212/925-6400 or fax
212/941-8424.
