On November 22, 1996, at noon the National Archives will show the 1987
film, "A Weave of Time: The Story of a Navajo Family, 1938-1986," In 1938
noted anthropologist John Adair traveled to the Navajo reservation in Pine
Springs, AZ, with a 16mm hand-wind motion picture camera. There, Adair
met and filmed the Burnside family, creating a visual record of Navajo
life in the 1930's. This rare historical footage is woven together with
contemporary scenes and interviews with the Burnside family in the
1980's. Directed by Susan Fanshel (60 minutes). The National Archives
is located at 7th and Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC.
