The AMERICAN INDIAN GRADUATE PROGRAM works with the California Social Work
Education Center (CALSWEC) organized to meet these goals:
*To educate professional social workers who will commit to careers providing
excellent, culturally competent services in public child welfare services in
California;
* To increase the representation of ethno-cultural minorities in
professional social work staffs;
* To develop and maintain collaborative partnerships between publicly
supported social service agencies and schools of social welfare;
* To engage in research and development to improve the quality of publicly
supported social services in California.
CalSWEC's mission is to reprofessionalize public child welfare services. The
aim is to encourage master's level social work students in California to
prepare for careers in publicly-supported social services agencies.
Financial Aid: $15,000 in 1997-98, payable in quarterly payments
$15,000 in 1998-99, payable in quarterly payments
