As you might have heard, this has been the worst winter in history for
the Northern Plains and the Sioux tribes. Disaster has hit the Standing
Rock Sioux Tribe with snow drifts up to 11 feet stranding people out on
the prairie with their roads unpassable. The weather, which is cold
even in the best of years, has been the coldest in history, with the
blowing snow keeping people at home, unable to even get to the store for
food. Lack of transportation and money for fuel has made the situation
worse.

My daughter-in law, Carla Zahn, is local district chairwonman. Along
with other volunteers, she has started a disaster relief fund and is
asking for help in the form of food, clothing, blankets, and money for
fuel. Carla and her team will distribute the needed items to all
members of the tribe, not just Fort Yates.

Any help you can provide would be sincerely appreciated. You can send
assistance to:

Carla Zahn, Chairperson
Fort Yates Local District
Fort Yates, North Dakota 58538

Thank you for your help.
