**Paid Internship**

Seeking students with interest, education or experience in public policy
issues development.

This unique program provides interns access to Congressional hearings,
meetings with Indian lobbyists and government officials, and interaction
with federal and other Native American organizations.

Selected students are involved with many facets of representing and
monitoring the Pequotsi interests before Congress (as well as the
interests of other Native American and Alaskan Native Tribes), giving
students a comprehensive introduction to Native American policy issues
such as welfare reform, education, and Indian gaming.

The internship program is offered on a quarter/semester, and summer basis.
The MPTN will coordinate with University academic programs for credit if
requested by the intern.

The internship provides a compensation of $2,000 a month.

*The Application Deadline Date for the 1997 Spring term has been
extended to March 1, 1997.
