The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, a part of The Texas A&M
University System, invites applications for the position of
Archeologist for Texas' largest state-agency museum. Accredited by
the AAM, the Museum is located in Canyon, TX, on the campus of West
Texas A&M University, approximately 17 miles south of Amarillo, TX.
The archeologist curates the archeological, paleontological,
geological, and biological collections of the Museum as well as
directs the Museum's compliance with provisions of the Native
American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990.
Requirements: Advanced degree required, three to five years of
Southern Plains archeological experience required, museum-related
experience helpful, and good verbal and written communication skill
essential. Salary range: $25,000 - $30,000.
