If you haven't already consulted this text, Daniel Francis' book [The
Imaginary Indian] provides an interesting historical perspective on the
Canadian Government, literary, filmic and popular culture representation
of Native Culture as dying out. While it doesn't cover Innu culture
specifically, theoretically it might be a good place to start for further
bibliographic material.
