Hi, just want to let you know that Mr. Zamora, of the Wichi nation,
commonly known as the Mataco people of Northern Argentina and
Southeastern Bolivia will be in North America from April 6 through April
18, 1997. Lecko has long years of experience working with issues
involving the indigenous peoples of South America. His English is good
enough for short conversations. He is currently working with the Fund
for Indigenous Development in the Bolivar state of Venezuela.

Lecko's visit represents an opportunity for North-South sharing of
hearts and minds. Many issues faced by Native groups are common to both
North and South. Native American leaders in North America have more
esperience in many areas, but there is much to share in both
directions. Native Americans from both continents have very much in
common, yet communication links are few.

If you know of Native American leaders who have the ability to
communicate in Spanish, we can look into how to arrange a getting
together. This opportunity for a visit has arisen with only short
notice. Lecko will spend at least his first one or two days in the
Tampa, Florida area but after that his itinerary is open.
