1. Research Director
The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) has an immediate
opening for a Research Director to manage a major research initiative
project on behalf of our member institutions. We are a fast-paced,
rapidly growing, non-profit organization, dedicated to improving higher
education opportunities for American Indians, through a consortium of 31
Tribal Colleges. Our office is located in Alexandria, Virginia.
The Research Director will manage all research related activities of the
Consortium. This includes the creation, maintenance, and management of a
national database of Tribal College statistical information. The
Research Director will report to the AIHEC Executive Director and closely
coordinate research activities with our legislative and other related
programs. This includes the overall responsibility to:
* Collect, compile, and analyze Tribal College data that will support
legislative and public/private sector funding initiatives and other AIHEC
priorities;
* Plan, create, and distribute annual statistical reports of AIHEC
research findings to AIHEC Board of Directors and other higher education
organizations;
* Conduct site visits to Tribal Colleges for the purposes of information
collection and presentation;
* Respond to public/private sector requests for information on Tribal
Colleges;
* Create and maintain comprehensive central AIHEC research data files;
and develop high quality presentation documents for response to public
and private requests on Tribal Colleges.
Candidate must have a Bachelors Degree with extensive research, development,
and critical/statistical analysis experience and have the flexibility to
travel. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, computer
proficiency, and a demonstrated ability to work well with others. Knowledge
of higher education issues and a background in programmatic/grant management
