Just wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know our progress. We
have been in touch with the Department of the Interior who has sent us old
trails and new trails that we can possibly utilize in our ride. The ride
currently appears to be ready to start in May '98 and run through August '98
- so mark your calendars. We will be starting in Canada on the West coast,
traveling down through Washington state to California and then heading east
across the country. The exact route is being finalized now. We do
anticipate traveling through the Badlands of the Dakotas, and across the
country, traveling through Tennessee, North Carolina and up to New York
state, ending up with a huge rally (we do indeed hope!) in Central Park in
NYC with indigenous peoples from all over the world. We are currently
pursuing info and permission to allow this to happen and are grateful to
those who are so willing to help us.
We are still in desperate need of sponsors for food, horses, at least one
van to carry the medical personnel and food and cooking supplies, and of
course, for funding so that this can happen. Please, please contact all you
know to see if you can assist in locating sponsors for this wonderful event.
Many Native nations are very excited and are looking forward to hosting us,
housing us and conducting ceremony for us while we are with them. More will
be passed on as it is formed.
Obviously this is a tremendously huge endeavor and all of you are
desperately needed to assist in getting it to happen. Again, thank you all
